Fun Ways to Celebrate Christmas on the Farm

It’s the week before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring … and definitely not the mouse! If you’re decking the halls and jingling the bells at the farm, Camdenton Farm and Garden wants to help! Christmas is such a delightful season, and even more so when you live out in the country. Here are a few fun ways to celebrate and prepare for Christmas!

O Christmas Tree

How does your family do the Christmas tree? Do you like to have a real tree, or do you put up an artificial tree every year? It may be fun to either walk around your property and look for a Christmas tree or go out and visit a Christmas tree farm! Fix some hot chocolate, put it in a thermos, and hit the road to find the most perfect tree! This can be a very sentimental part of Christmas, and a memory that many cherish for years! Now that you have the perfect tree, it’s time to …

Deck the Halls!

Throw some tinsel on the tree, hang a wreath on the door, and put some yule logs in the fireplace! It’s going to be a wonderful season. Try to find ways to bring your fan indoors through the fun decor. With Red Cedar boughs in your centerpieces, red berries to accent, pine cones, and more. You can also use some of the items from your harvest to help make your home smell amazing! Put some apple quarters, cinnamon sticks, orange slices, and cloves in your crockpot with some water and turn on low or warm and your home will smell fantastic!

I’ve Brought Some Corn for Popping

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and part of that is because of the incredible flavors! It’s time to break out the baking utensils and make some of your FAVORITE recipes. What does your family like more? Cookies, cakes, pies? Will you be using some of your harvest to make them? There’s nothing like Christmas on the farm! Some families may also be serving up the Christmas goose, pork, or venison.

Sleigh Bells Ring

A final fun Christmas tradition that can be appreciated when you live out on the farm is a fun sleigh ride through the woods. Of course, you need a few things to accomplish this, but if your family has horses on the property, you may also have a sleigh to take a ride in. If you don’t have that, you can always hitch up the tractor and take a fun ride through the woods by way of engine power. Nothing says Merry Christmas from the country than fun tractor ride under blankets with hot chocolate!
