Only at Camdenton Farm and Garden can you find a January White Sale like no other. Did you know that birdseed can sometimes be all white? Birds love it, so when you're feeding the wild birds of your community, you may want to stock up now during our White Sale. Get 10% off of your purchase of our white birdseed and be all stocked for winter. Here are more details about our white bird seed that we have available.

White Millet

Millet isn't always a common birdseed, but it has great nutritional benefits. Millet is a small, starchy grain, and while it comes in many varieties the most popular is generally the white millet.

The basic nutritional components of millet seed include:

  • 12 percent protein
  • 8 percent fiber
  • 4 percent fat
  • Calcium
  • B vitamins
  • Magnesium, manganese, potassium, phosphorus and other trace minerals

You will also find that many birds will enjoy white millet, from small to large. Here are just a few birds that will enjoy it, although there are many more, especially when given the opportunity to try this type of birdseed:

  • Budgerigars
  • Carolina wrens
  • Dark-eyed juncos
  • Eastern towhees
  • House Finches
  • Indigo buntings
  • Mourning doves
  • Northern cardinals
  • Painted buntings
  • Pine siskins
  • Scarlet Tanagers
  • Snow buntings
  • Sparrows
  • Spotted towhees
  • Varied thrushes
  • Yellow-throated warblers
  • Pheasants, quail, and grouse

Safflower

White safflower seeds may be a bit uncommon for birders, but they are picking up in popularity quickly and becoming one of the more known bird seeds. If you've never used this type of birdseed before, you can start introducing it, and before you know it, your backyard friends will love it!

Because this isn't as popular of a birdseed it can be challenging to find if you don't know where to look. Thankfully, your local farm and garden store at the Lake of the Ozarks stocks it regularly and you can buy it easily! Here are a few bird species that really enjoy this type of birdseed:

  • Black-capped chickadees
  • Black-headed grosbeaks
  • Blue jays
  • Carolina chickadees
  • Downy woodpeckers
  • Evening grosbeaks
  • House Finches
  • Mourning doves
  • Northern cardinals
  • Purple Finches
  • Red-bellied woodpeckers
  • Rose-breasted grosbeaks
  • Tufted titmice
  • White-breasted nuthatches

Sunflower Hearts & Chips

Sunflower hearts and chips are just the inside of the sunflower seed without the messy hulls to worry about. It can also be easier for the birds to eat this type of birdseed because they won't have to work with the hulls. They are a great combination of vitamins and minerals for your bird, along with necessary fat and fiber. The main difference between the hulled sunflower seeds and the sunflower hearts is that aside from being hulled they can seem a bit more expensive. Just remember that you won't be paying for the hull, which is a saving in itself. PLUS, if you buy your white sunflower hearts in January at Camdenton Farm and Garden you can get 10% off!

Here are a few birds that really enjoy sunflower hearts (along with many others that aren't listed):

  • American goldfinches
  • Black-capped chickadees
  • Black-headed grosbeaks
  • Carolina wrens
  • Downy woodpeckers
  • Hairy woodpeckers
  • House Finches
  • Mourning doves
  • Pine grosbeaks
  • Pine siskins
  • Red-bellied woodpeckers
  • Red-breasted nuthatches
